Tickets To Paradise--Ticket #19 (Looking After Daughters or Sisters)

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum

Dear Friends

I pray that you are well.

A child is raised in two ways. The first is to meet the child's material needs and the second one is to nurture the child's spiritually and raise the child well.

The nurture of a girl goes on until she gets married to a righteous man. According to what the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, pointed out was that it goes on even after they get married.

There are narrations that a person who raises and nurtures his daughter, sister or the daughter of somebody else religiously will enter Paradise. These ahadith also emphasize the rights of girls and women due to their vulnerability.

"There is no Muslim who has two daughters and takes good care of them except that he will enter Paradise." (Bukhari)

"A person who nurtures three daughters, raises them well, marry them and treats them well will enter Paradise." (Abu Dawood)
Jabir ibn-Abdullah, Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
"One who has three daughters and guards them, caters to their needs and remains kind toward them will surely get Paradise. Someone asked him about one who had only two daughters. The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, even then."

On the authority of ibn ‘Abbaas, Allah be pleased with him: The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

"…and whoever takes care of three daughters or three sisters and raises them upon good manerisms, is merciful towards them until Allaah makes them independent of him, Allaah would obligate the entrance to Jannah for him.

A man said: 'O Messenger of Allaah, or two?'

He responded: 'or two.'

Even if they said one, he would have said one…"

[Sharh as Sunnah: 13/14]

"If a person has three daughters or three sisters or two daughters or two sisters and meet their needs and fear Allah about them, he will enter Paradise." (Tirmidhi)

"On the Day of Judgment, I will be together with the person who brings up and nurtures two girls until they become adults." (Muslim and Tirmidhi)

"If a person suffers due to her daughters but takes care of them, her daughters will be barricades that will save him from the fire of Hell." (Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi)

The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, gave the following good news regarding the issue:
A person who takes care of and protects his/her or somebody else’s motherless or fatherless child will be together with me in Paradise. (Bukhari)

Taking care of girls and to nurture them is an act that pleases Allah and His Messenger, Allah bless him and grant him peace. The parents that take care of their daughters and enable them to be raised in accordance with Islamic principles will be neighbors of the Messenger, Allah bless him and grant him peace, in the Hereafter.

Aisha, Allah be pleased with her, reported, A woman came to me along with her two daughters and wanted something from me. There was nothing but a single date at home. I gave it to the woman. Without tasting the date, she divided it into two and gave it to her daughters. Meanwhile, the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, came along. When I told him what happened, he said: If a person has troubles due to her daughters but takes care of them, her daughters will be barricades that will save him from the fire of Hell. (Bukhari and Muslim)

In another narration, Aisha, Allah be pleased with her, reported: A poor woman came to me along with her daughters. I gave her three dates. She gave a date to each of them and then she took up one date and brought that to her mouth in order to eat that, but her daughters expressed desire to eat it. She then divided the date that she intended to eat between them. This (kind) treatment of her impressed me and I mentioned that which she did to Allah's Messenger, Allah bless him and grant him peace. Thereupon he said: Verily Allah has assured Paradise for her, because of (this act) of her, or He has rescued her from Hell-Fire. (Muslim)

In the previous hadith, Aisha, Allah be pleased with her, gave one date but in the following hadith she gave three dates. Sometimes the household of the Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, had no cooked meals for three months and often there was nothing to eat except dates and water. At this particular time, there could be there was only one date to eat and then she found two more dates. Or, maybe that the event took place twice.

A person who brings up and nurtures two daughters will be a neighbor of the Messenger of Allah, Allah bless him and grant him peace. Those who take care of daughters with problems will definitely reach that happiness earlier than them and more than them.

The compassion of the mother who gave the date to her daughters without tasting it though she was hungry too is noble and merciful. And the one who aid in a noble and merciful action is as noble and merciful.

Endless salvation is through mercy. The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said,
Allah shows mercy on those who show mercy on others. Show mercy on those who are on the earth so that those in the sky will show mercy on you....” (Tirmidhi and Abu Dawood)

May Allah put mercy in our hearts. Ameen. Please don't forget us in your night prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.

And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
