"Like Putting Lipstick On A Pig"

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful, Most Compassionate
Assalaamu alaykum

Dear Friends

I pray that you are well.

Try looking around you during taraweeh prayer in the masjid and you will find most young women are caked in make up and lipstick. This is nothing else but shaytan handiwork. Some ladies prayed with finger and toe nail polish. Know that wudu' is not valid when it is done while you are wearing nail polish because water cannot reach the skin. If there is no wudu', there is no prayer.

Every believing woman is obliged to cover her beauty and adornment from non-mahram men because this is a command of Allah Most High so "you may succeed."

And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their women, that which their right hands possess, or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.

(Qur'an An-Noor 24:31)

O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.

(Qur'an Ahzab 33:59)

It is one of the tricks of showy or unchaste women to tinkle their ankle ornaments, to draw attention to themselves. Adornment includes kohl, make-up, jewelry and any means of beautification. A woman can create fitnah due to her wearing kohl or makeup or having openings in her niqaab to make her eyes look more attractive and alluring.

The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
After me, I have not left any trial (fitnah) more harmful to men than women. (Bukhari)

The reason why it is unlawful for women to show their adornment is to protect women's chastity and honor, and to close the door of temptation and prevent women being tempted or tempting men. Although wearing kohl is sunnah, but it is not permissible for a woman to show this adornment or anything other form of adornment to anyone other than her husband or her mahram. This ruling applies to hijaabi and niqaabi sisters.

Our hijaab or niqaab is not a fashion statement, it is our protection and shield, as an individual and as a group.

Islam closes the doors that lead men being tempted by women and vice versa. Islam enjoins lowering our gazes (both men and women) and forbids wanton display and free mixing between men and women.

Think again when you put that lipstick on. Lipstick in culture

May Allah guide us and make our intention sincere in putting the hijaab or niqaab. Ameen. Please don't forget us in your night prayers. Jazakallahu khairan.

And Allah knows best.
Wassalaam
