Why Seek Knowledge?
You seek knowledge so you can have the capacity for sound and right action in the circumstances that you are in. Beneficial knowledge is the knowledge that you need to worship Allah, which is the purpose of our existence.
“And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.”
[Quran, Adh-Dhariyat 51:56]
Worship is recognizing and knowing the One you worship – the One you are devoted and submit to. Worship is not about the worshiper nor the worship. It is about the One who is worshipped.
Know how to worship Allah soundly. If you are married, ensure you can uphold a sound marriage, acting according to divine standards. If you are a child, ensure you treat your parents with excellence.
“And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, excellent treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff," and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word.”
[Quran, Al-Isra 17:23]
